NEW HAVEN, Conn. – In its home season finale, the Yale football team was victorious with a 42-28 win over Princeton on Senior Day at Yale Bowl, Class of 1954 Field.
Key Players
- Josh Pitsenberger was vital in the Bulldogs' run game. He rushed for 159 yards on 25 attempts. He grabbed two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown.
- Inumidun Ayo-Durojaiye is a defensive player who made an impact on the game. He had a team-high nine tackles – with two sacks for a loss of seven yards. In addition, he tacked on a forced fumble and an interception.
Turning Point
- Yale's second half run game was a point of emphasis that determined the direction of the game.
- In the first half, the Bulldogs rushed 21 times for 109 yards. In the second half, they upped the run game with 172 yards on 26 rushes – particularly enhanced in the third quarter.
- The third frame saw them rush 14 times for 104 yards, highlighted by Pitsenberger with 67 of those yards.
Game Notes
- Josh Pitsenberger rushed for a season-high 25 attempts and 159 yards.
- Pitsenberger picked up two rushing touchdowns and a receiving touchdown. The running back has at least one receiving touchdown in each of his three seasons.
- Grant Jordan rushed for a career-high yards. He now has rushing touchdowns of his own in five of the Bulldogs' eight games.
- Chase Nenad's 53 receiving yards and 31-yard reception were both season highs.
- As a team, the Bulldogs rushed a season-high 281 yards. Their highest run total to date was 258 against Lehigh on Oct. 19.
- Five sacks from the defense were a season high. The last time Yale picked up five sacks in a game was against Harvard on Nov. 18, 2023.
- Yale has now beaten Princeton in four of the last five meetings. Three of those wins have seen the squad score at least 30 points.
