NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Three Yale men's cross country runners were recognized as All-Region honorees by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Monday. This award is given to the top 25 finishers in each of the NCAA Regional Championship meets that took place last Friday. The three all-region honorees helped the Bulldogs to a fifth-place finish at Regionals, their best Regionals finish since also placing fifth in 2004.
Junior
Owen Karas achieved this honor with his 22nd place finish, best among the Bulldogs. This was the second time this season he was Yale's top finisher. He improved upon his 39th place finish at Regionals a year ago.
Also achieving this honor was senior
Leo Brewer, who finished in 24th. The achievement is a fitting way for him to end his final cross country race for the Bulldogs. Brewer was Yale's top finisher at the Paul Short Run, Pre-Nationals and the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships.
Junior
Kenan Pala came home in 25th to be named All-Region as well. Pala came on strong at the end of the season, finishing in Yale's top three at Regionals and the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships. He was Yale's second finisher at the Paul Short Run.
