Throwers Wrap Up Opening Meet

STORRS, Conn. – The second day of the UConn Husky Challenge Friday allowed the Yale men's track and field team to open up their indoor campaign. The throws group traveled to contest the weight throw. Their winter training has clearly been effective, as they set a high standard for the season to come with PRs and strong distances. These Bulldogs will be back in action at home Saturday looking to build upon Friday's performances.

The Meet:
  • Full results can be found here.
  • Sophomore Chu Anueyiagu set the tone for the season to come with over a 3 meter PR in his first attempt. His consistent run of throws led him to achieve a mark of 16.80 meters on his third attempt, which was a significant PR.
  • Junior Jake Sun had a solid opening to his season. Again, he showed solid consistency to record a mark of 16.58 meters. Sun will compete again Saturday and will look to edge closer to a PR.
  • Junior Nolan Recker backed up his performances from last year, when he set the school record. His mark of 19.99, whilst just off a PR, makes it clear he will be sure to test his own school record this season.
