Throwers Shine on Day One at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA – Competition got underway Thursday at the Penn Relays for the Yale men's track and field team. The historic meet, which runs through Saturday, is the oldest and largest track and field competition in the United States. It typically attracts more than 17,000 competitors and 100,000 spectators.
 
Yale's top finishes on Thursday were:
  • Senior Nolan Recker, second in the College Hammer Throw (61.12m, a PR that ranks second on Yale's all-time list)
  • Senior Owen Karas, third in the College 1500m Championship (3:41.93)
  • Senior Jake Sun, sixth in the College Hammer Throw (59.01m, a PR that moves him into third on Yale's all-time list)
  • Senior Kenan Pala, 13th in the College 10,000m Championship (30:42.36)
  • Sophomore Lucas Cohen, 35th in the College 5000m Championship (14:13.65)
