Petrova Wins Foil at Ivy Championships

NEW YORK, N.Y. – First year Kristina Petrova was crowned as the Ivy League Champion in foil as the Yale women's fencing team competed at the conference championships over the weekend. Petrova was outstanding throughout, compiling an overall record of 13-1 and helped lead the Bulldogs to a 3-3 mark.

Petrova was also named to the All-Ivy League First Team.

Day 1
The Bulldogs compiled a 2-1 record on the first day of the conference tournament. After falling to Penn in the first round, the Elis bounced back with a 19-8 win over Brown and a 14-13 victory over No. 7 Cornell.

Petrova was dominant in the opening three matches, going a perfect 9-0 on the day.

Day 2

On the second day of competition, Yale dropped its opening matchup against Columbia, but rebounded to beat Harvard 17-10. The Bulldogs wrapped up the conference championships with a loss to Princeton.

Petrova once again was a force, compiling a 4-1 record. Stephanie Cao was the Bulldogs' highest placer in the saber, taking eighth. Alexandra Drovetsky finished 11th in the epee.
