NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The second half of the Ivy League season begins for the Yale men's basketball team this weekend with a trip to Penn and Princeton. The Bulldogs meet the Quakers on Friday at 7 p.m. and have a Saturday night date at Princeton at 8 p.m. Saturday's game with the Tigers will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
Â
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
Â
• The Bulldogs (16-6, 7-0 Ivy) have won nine straight games, their longest streak since the 2015-16 team rolled off 12 straight wins on its way to an Ivy League championship. The longest winning streak in school history is 13 set in 1906-07.
Â
• The 7-0 start in Ivy play is the best for the Bulldogs since the 2015-16 team won its first eight league games as part of the 12-game winning streak.
Â
• The nine-game winning streak is the fifth longest active streak in Division I behind UConn (13), Saint Mary's (12), South Florida (10) and Colgate (10).
Â
• Yale is one of only two teams in the nation unbeaten in conference play joining Saint Mary's of the WCC. Saint Mary's hosts Pepperdine on Thursday night.
Â
• The Bulldogs are coming off a thrilling 80-78 victory over Cornell on Saturday, rallying from a 15-point first-half deficit.
Matt Knowling's conventional three-point play with 3.2 seconds left provided the winning points. It was Yale's third win of the season when trailing at halftime.
Â
• Yale leads the Ivy League in field goal percentage defense (.413) and rebound margin (+6.0).
Â
•
Danny Wolf was named the Ivy League Player of the Week for the fifth time this season on Monday after scoring 25 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the victory over Cornell. He is just the seventh Ivy player to garner at least five player of the week awards in a single season. Princeton's Ian Hummer (seven in 2012-13) holds the record for the most player of week selections in a season.
Â
• In seven league games, Wolf is averaging 18.0 points and 11.3 rebounds and shooting 53.8 percent from the field. He has posted double-doubles in all but one (Harvard) Ivy game and has 10 double-doubles on the season. Wolf leads the league in rebounding at 9.8 rpg., which is 20th in the nation.
Â
• Knowling has scored in double figures in all six league games he has appeared in and is shooting 66.7 percent (34 of 51) from the field in Ivy play.
Â
•
John Poulakidas is shooting 46.8 percent (22-of-27) from three-point range in Ivy games. Overall, he is currently fifth in the nation in three-point field goal percentage at 44.4 percent.

Bez Mbeng matched his career high with eight assists. The home team has won the last 12 games in the series. The Bulldogs trailed by 19 points but outscored the Tigers 49-20 over the last eight minutes of the second half and five minutes of overtime. Princeton, though, won the last meeting between the teams at Jadwin, 74-65 in the championship game of last year's Ivy League Tournament. In the first meeting this season, Wolf had 21 points and 12 rebounds as Yale edged the Tigers 70-64. The Bulldogs have won 11 of the last 14 meetings with Princeton.
