Depth on Display as No. 21 Bulldogs Top Quinnipiac 20-8

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 21 Yale women's lacrosse team jumped out to an 8-2 lead on visiting Quinnipiac after one quarter Wednesday afternoon at Reese Stadium, enabling the Bulldogs to rest their starters for much of the rest of the game. Yale's depth was on display throughout the afternoon as the Bobcats never got closer than within five goals after the 9:48 mark of the second quarter. The Bulldogs eventually finished off a 20-8 win.
 
Yale (2-0, 0-0 Ivy League) got goals from 11 different players. A total of 12 players had points.
 
The Bobcats were playing their season opener.
 
STATISTICAL LEADERS
 
First-year midfielder Katie Clare led Yale in goals with four, while junior midfielder Fallon Vaughn (two goals, two assists) tied her for the team lead in points with four.  
 
First-year midfielder Ashley Kiernan had a team-best three ground balls in her Yale debut. She added two assists.
 
First-year midfielder Karina Herrera had a team-best four draw controls in her Yale debut. She added two goals.
 
Quinnipiac was led by four goals from Angelina Sparacio.
 
TURNING POINT
 
After Quinnipiac got within 8-3 on a goal at 10:41 of the second, Yale reeled off four straight goals in a span of 4:32 and never looked back.

Yale outshot Quinnipiac 37-22 and had a 21-13 advantage in ground balls. A total of 31 players made appearances for the Bulldogs, including all three goalies: junior Cami Donadio, first year Laura O'Connor and junior Caitlin Brown.
