TAMPA, Fla. – The Yale softball team opened its 2024 campaign with two games at the South Florida Showdown. The Bulldogs dropped their opening tilt to Pittsburgh, 4-1, and fell to No. 8 nationally ranked Oklahoma State, 10-1, later in the day.

Game 1: Pittsburgh 4, Yale 1
- Willa Ferrer hit a lead-off single to left field in the first inning to get Yale's first baserunner of the inning. Libby Peoples knocked a two-out single through the left side that scored the runner.
- Pittsburgh responded in the fifth with three runs on two home runs.
- The Panthers added another run in the top half of the seventh with a single to left field.
