CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Yale women's track and field team returned to competition Sunday at the Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Track and Field Championships at Harvard's Gordon Track. • As usual, Day 2 began with individual events before ending with relays. The Bulldogs picked up points in both areas, but it was Gloria Guerrier who highlighted the action as she placed an third in the 500m. Running 1:13.04, the first-year athlete should be confident as she moves onto outdoors and future Heps championships.
  • Guerrier's twin sister Victoria Guerrier also picked up a valuable point in the 800m, running a new PR of 2:08.10 to place sixth.
  • Also in lifetime best form was Kyra Pretre, whose 4:41.50 put her fifth in the mile. Her training partner Linde Fonville also showed her strength as she came sixth in the 1000m, running 2:50.18.
  • The final individual scorer of the day was another first year -- Juliette Kosmont -- who finished sixth in the 60m thanks to a 7.61 second performance.
  • Also in good form for the Bulldogs was team captain Bella Bergloff, whose 13.57m PR saw her sail out to eighth place in the shot put ahead of teammate Emma Perretti's 12.74m PR in 14th.
  • The PR streak continued in the triple jump later on as Sophie Wright and Bharathi Subbiah jumped 11.98m and 11.76m respectively on their way to 11th and 13th. Teammate Alexandra Bonn placed 17th.
  • The day concluded with the relays, as a team of Fonville, Pretre, Molly Harding and Kalista Villatoro came sixth in the 4x880y. Just after that, in the final event of the weekend, Mira Thakur, Bridget Vitu and the Guerrier twins combined to finish third in the 4x440y to ensure that the action ended on a high note for the Bulldogs.
  • The Bulldogs' point total represented an 11 point improvement over last season.
Up next:
  • The Bulldogs are right back in Massachusetts at the ECAC Championships, which take place Mar. 1-3 at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center. This is the last meet on the indoor schedule.
