NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Five members of the Yale women's cross country and track and field teams were named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators (CSC) for 2024-25: junior Claire Archer (Seattle, Wash.), senior Iris Bergman (Concord, Mass.), senior Peyton Parker (Bryn Mawr, Pa.), senior Bridget Vitu (Wilmette, Ill.) and junior Makayla White (Cleveland, Ohio). The organization announced the awards on Tuesday.
 
Claire Archer
 
Archer, an economics major, was Yale's top finisher at every 6K meet this past cross country season. That included NCAA Regionals, where she placed 12th overall (20:15.5 for the 6K) to earn All-Region recognition. Archer earned first team All-Ivy for her fourth-place finish (20:17.6 at the Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships, and she was named All-East after finishing second overall (20:50.7) at the ECAC Cross Country Championships. This past outdoor track and field season, Archer placed fourth in the 5k (16:34.96) at the Ivy League championships. That was her third straight year competing at outdoor Heps. She has also competed once at indoor Heps, placing seventh in the 3k (9:47.42) and running a leg of the distance medley relay (11:39.22) in 2023.
 
In addition to her economics degree, Archer is also working on a certificate in data science. She has served as the director of alumni relations and cross country representative for the Yale Women's Athletic Council. She has had multiple internships in finance, working for Novelty Hill Capital in the summer of 2024 and for Citi this summer.
 
Archer is a graduate of Roosevelt High School.


Iris Bergman
 
Bergman, a sociology major, established PRs in the 800m (2:05.55) and 1500m (4:28.97) this past outdoor season and was part of the 4x800m relay team that set the Yale record at the Penn Relays with a time of 8:35.53. Bergman took third in the 800m (2:05.70) at the Ivy League outdoor championships this past May, and she also was part of Yale's 4x800m relay. She was fourth in the 1000m (2:46.52) at the Ivy League indoor championships, where she also was part of Yale's distance medley relay. She competed at each of the Ivy championships (indoor and outdoor) three times in her career.
 
Bergman has also been a consistent scorer for the cross country team, and she was Yale's fifth finisher at the 2024 NCAA Cross Country Northeast Regional. She competed at the Ivy League cross country championships twice in her career.
 
Bergman has worked as an in communications for Water for South Sudan, as an undergraduate research assistant in the sociology department at Yale. She was a summer fellow at the Young Leaders Summer Institute in 2024. She sang a cappella in the Unorthojocks, a singing group composed of Yale student-athletes. She was also a member of Yale Athlete Ally and Students Demand Action. She volunteered with the Yale Community Kitchen and Yale Special Needs Undergraduate Swim Lessons.  
 
Bergman is a graduate of Concord-Carlisle High School.


Peyton Parker
 
Parker, a history major, earned Academic All-Ivy League recognition for this past outdoor track and field season. She has competed at outdoor Heps three times in her career. In addition to her role in the 4x400m relay team's second-place finish (3:40.56) this year, she finished seventh in the 400m (57.05). Parker has competed at indoor Heps twice, including a third-place finish as part of Yale's distance medley relay (11:30.07) this past March. She competed individually in the 400m as well.
 
Parker interned as a teaching assistant with the National 4-H Council last year. She has also worked as a student technician with the Student Technology Collaborative and was a board member for the Black Solidarity Conference. Parker was a project leader with the Yale Undergraduate Legal Aid Association.
 
Parker is a graduate of Penn Charter School.
 
Bridget Vitu
 
Vitu, an ethics, politics and economics major, earned Academic All-Ivy League recognition for this past indoor track and field season. Vitu was part of the 4x400m relay team that set the school record indoors this season, running 3:40.00 at BU's John Thomas Terrier Classic on Jan. 31. Vitu competed in the 500m and the 4x400m relay at the Ivy League Indoor Track and Field Championships in March. This was her third time competing at Heps. She competed in the 400m in the two previous years and was also part of a relay team each year. 
 
Vitu concluded her career this past May at the Ivy League Outdoor Track and Field Championships, where she earned second team All-Ivy League honors for being part of the second-place finish for Yale's 4x400m relay team (3:40.56). She also competed individually in the 400m. She competed at outdoor Heps all four years of her career.
 
Vitu was a financial analyst and vice president of membership for TAMID at Yale. She also has worked as a research assistant in the political science department at Yale and as an outreach coordinator for Kesem at Yale. She was a part of Yale Undergraduate Diversified Investments and Women in Economics. She also has worked as an analyst for CMB and UBS.
 
Vitu is a graduate of New Trier High School.
 
Makayla White
 
White, a history of science, medicine and public health major, was recently honored with Yale's Stroube Family Award, given annually to a member of the women's track and field team who best exemplifies sportsmanship, courage and inspiration. In her first two seasons on the team, White primarily competed in the 60m, 100m and 200m sprint events. This past indoor season, she made her pentathlon debut at the UConn Husky Challenge, finishing seventh overall (2,881 points). This spring, she delivered a seventh-place finish in the heptathlon at the Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Track and Field Championships – setting a school record with 4,772 points. She has been elected captain for the 2025-26 season by her teammates.
 
White is a Global Health Scholar at Yale's Jackson School of Global Affairs. She is part of the Black Pre-Health Club at Yale. She interned with the Health Equity team at the MetroHealth System in Cleveland.
 
White has competed at both Ivy League championships (indoor and outdoor) in each of the last two seasons. She is a graduate of the Hawken School.
