NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's tennis team improved its spring record to 4-0 with a 7-0 win over Purdue at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs got doubles victories from the teams of
Theo Dean and
Aidan Reilly and
Jim Ji and
Eric Li.
Yale then swept the singles matches. At No. 2,
Vignesh Gogineni dropped the first set 6-0 but rallied to win the second set 6-3 and then took the super tiebreaker 10-3. Li, in the No. 3 position, also won in a super tiebreaker, edging Purdue's Juan David Velasquez 10-8 after the two had split two sets. Reilly, at No. 5, had the easiest time, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
The Bulldogs are on the road for their next two matches, facing Duke on Friday at 5 p.m. and then Liberty on Sunday at noon.
