NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's baseball team dropped its home opener to Sacred Heart on Wednesday afternoon. The Pioneers took down the Bulldogs 6-2 in the non-conference matchup.
David Aufiero earned the victory for the visitors, while 
Carter Kessinger picked up the loss for the Elis.
With the win, Sacred Heart improved to 4-10. Yale dropped to 1-9 early on in the 2024 campaign.
Scoring Summary
	- Top 1st | Ronan Donohue doubled to knock in the first run of the game.
 
	- Top 2nd | The Pioneers added two more runs on a wild pitch and a single by Tim McGuire.
 
	- Top 4th | Sacred Heart tallied a pair of runs. Gavin Donohue doubled home Charlie Tall. Donohue later scored on a wild pitch.
 
	- Bottom 6th | The Bulldogs tacked on their first run on a fielder's choice which scored Jeff Pierantoni.
 
	- Top 7th | Sacred Heart scored again on a wild pitch to go up 6-1.
 
	- Bottom 9th | The Bulldogs narrowed the deficit on an RBI single from Davis Hanson.
 
Game Notes
	- Sacred Heart snapped a three-game losing streak to the Bulldogs dating back to 2020.
 
	- Alec Atkinson stole a career-high three bases
 
	- Davis Hanson reached base four times with three walks and a single. Hanson extended his hit streak to four games. He tallied his team-leading eighth RBI.
 
	- Garett Larsen notched the first extra-base hit of his collegiate career with a first-inning double.
 
	- The Bulldogs used five pitchers against the Pioneers.
