ITHACA, N.Y. – With a share of the Ivy League title at stake, the No. 10 Yale women's lacrosse team wasted little time in taking control of Saturday's game vs. Cornell at Schoellkopf Field. The Bulldogs scored the game's first five goals, including one by junior midfielder
Sky Carrasquillo 21 seconds in, and got the lead to nine by halftime. They then scored the first four goals of the third quarter en route to finishing off a 21-8 win.
Â
Yale had clinched a spot in the Ivy League Tournament last Saturday with a win vs. then-No. 22 Harvard. The win at Cornell moves Yale to 6-0 in league play, all alone in first place with one league game to go. The Bulldogs, who beat second-place No. 17 Princeton (5-1 in Ivy play) earlier this year and thus have the head-to-head tiebreaker for the No. 1 seed, will host the Ivy League Tournament May 3 and 5.Â
Â
With the win Yale improves to 12-1 overall for the first time in school history. Cornell falls to 7-7 overall and 2-4 in Ivy play.
