LEXINGTON, Ky. – On Saturday evening, senior
Kyra Pretre of the Yale women's track and field team capped off her stellar undergraduate career competing for the Bulldogs at the NCAA East First Round meet in Lexington, Ky. This wasn't Pretre's first time running in the NCAA postseason – she also qualified and raced the 3k steeplechase last year at the First Round meet.
Pretre had qualified with a personal record time of 10:22.75 set at the Ivy League Outdoor Championships, placing her among the top 48 in the region. On Saturday she crossed the line in 14th place in her heat with a time of 10:59.10 despite competing in stifling heat and humidity. The top three finishers from each heat plus the next three fastest times qualified for the national meet in Eugene, Ore., next month. Full results can be found
here.
Pretre was captain of the cross country team this past season. Her leadership, expertise and talent will be missed.
This meet marks the end of the NCAA outdoor season for the Yale women's track and field team.
