Weir to Compete at UK Athletics Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Yale women's cross country/track and field alum Kosana Weir '23 will compete in the 1500m run at the UK Athletics Championships this weekend at Manchester Regional Arena in England. In addition to national titles, the Championships will determine who represents the UK at the Paris Olympics, which take place from July 26 to August 11.

On the track at Yale, Weir placed fifth in the 1500m at the 2022 Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Track and Field Championships. She was named MVP of the Yale cross country team in 2022, when she placed eighth at the NCAA Northeast Regional – one spot away from qualifying individually for the NCAA Cross Country Championships. That year she was 15th at the Ivy League Cross Country Championships.

Weir was an Academic All-Ivy League honoree and a USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete. She is now a postgraduate diploma in law student at the University of Law in England. A native of London, she graduated from Godolphin & Latymer.

Weir has run a 1500m multiple times already this month, including a time of 4:23.58 at the British Milers Club Grand Prix June 8. Her PR of 4:23.24 came in May of 2022, running for Yale at the Princeton Elite Invitational.

Weir's sister India, a former Princeton runner, is competing in the UK Athletics Championships as well. India Weir is entered in the 5000m run. Both sisters run for Thames Valley Harriers.
