Tzouveli to Compete at World Athletics U20 Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Yale women's track and field first-year high jumper Olympia Tzouveli (Volos, Greece) will compete in the World Athletics U20 Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. starting this Friday. 
 
Formerly known as the World Junior Championships, the biennial event brings together more than 1,800 of the best U20 athletes in the world, representing 147 member federations.
 
Tzouveli brings a personal best of 1.85m, which she achieved while placing second at the Balkan U20 Championships last month. She won Greece's indoor championship (1.74m) in February, and Greece's U20 championship (1.81m) for the third year in a row last month. She took third place at the Balkan U20 Championship (1.76m) in 2025. 
 
Tzouveli is a graduate of 1st General Lyceum of Nea Ionia.
 
The U20 Championships women's high jump, which includes 22 entries, starts with qualification rounds A and B on Friday at 11:05 a.m. PT (2:05 p.m. ET). The final takes place on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. PT (3:30 p.m. ET). Australia's Izobelle Louison-Roe, who earned silver in this event two years ago, has the top mark among U20s this year at 1.95m. Tzouveli is one of nine competitors to have cleared 1.85m or better.
 
The U20 Championships will be streamed live on Peacock and World Athletics+.
