Yale Announces 2024 Women’s Cross Country Schedule

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The 2024 Yale women's cross country schedule was released Thursday, with the first competition set for Friday, Sept. 6 at archrival Harvard.

The Bulldogs are entering their first season with Courtney Jaworski as the team's Mark T. Young '68 Director of Cross Country and Track and Field. A former Ivy League and NEWMAC Coach of the Year, Jaworski comes to New Haven from Smith College. He had been the Pioneers' Director of Cross Country and Head Track and Field Coach since May 2021.

Senior Kylie Goldfarb (St. Louis, Mo.) is Yale's captain.

Yale's 2024 schedule includes meets in at least five different states, with the possibility for a sixth should any Bulldogs qualify for the NCAA Championships.

Here is a breakdown of the schedule:
  • The team will open the season with the historic Harvard-Yale meet at Franklin Park in Boston on Friday, Sept. 6. Yale's top returning finisher from last year's season-opening meet is junior Linde Fonville (Charlotte, N.C.), who placed 10th.
  • On Saturday, Oct. 5, the team will head to Bethlehem, Pa., to compete in Lehigh's Paul Short Run. This meet often draws some of the best teams in the country. The Bulldogs placed 15th in the Gold Meet last year. The team's top returning finisher is sophomore Hebe Chadwick (Delft, Netherlands), who finished just ahead of Fonville.
  • The Bulldogs will compete in the ECAC Championships on Friday, Oct. 18, at Van Cortlandt Park in New York. Sophomore Daniella Henderson (Palo Alto, Calif.) was the Bulldogs' top finisher at this meet last year.
  • The Ivy League Heptagonal Championships take place Saturday, Nov. 2, at West Windsor Fields in Princeton, N.J.  Five of Yale's top seven finishers at this meet last year are back, led by junior Marisa Poe (Washington, D.C.).
  • On Friday, Nov. 15, Yale's top seven will head to Hopkinton, N.H., for the NCAA Northeast Regional. Junior Claire Archer (Seattle, Wash.) is the Bulldogs' top returning finisher from last year's regional meet.
  • Based on the results of Regionals, the Bulldogs may have the opportunity to compete at the NCAA Championships in Madison, Wisc., on Saturday, Nov. 23. Here are the NCAA's selection criteria for teams and individuals:
    • The top two teams at each of the nine regionals qualify for the national championships automatically, and 13 at-large teams will be selected by the NCAA Division I Cross Country Subcommittee.
    • From each NCAA regional meet, the first four student-athletes to finish – among those not on a qualifying team – will qualify automatically for the NCAA Championships. The committee will then select two at-large individuals by identifying the highest non-qualifying individual finishers at the regional meets. All individual qualifiers must finish in the top 25 within their region.
