NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Bulldogs swept the Yale Invitational with a 3-2 victory over Colgate on Sunday afternoon and extended their regular season home win streak to 25 matches. The scores of the match were 16-25, 25-16, 25-19, 13-25 and 15-11.
Betsy Goodenow was named tournament MVP, while
Laurece Abraham and
Gigi Barr were named to the all-tournament team.
Match summary:
- Yale won all three matches of the tournament in five-set fashion.
- After falling behind 3-0 to start the fifth, the Bulldogs stormed back. Yale scored six of the next nine points with kills from Goodenow, Payton Bryan and Abraham, who also added a solo block.
- Carly Diehl (41 assists) delivered a solo block to tie the fifth set at 7-7, and then served up three straight kills to give Yale a 10-7 lead en route to a match victory.
- Abraham finished with a team-high 14 kills and six blocks.
- Goodenow averaged 3.53 kills, 2.73 digs and added 10 blocks this weekend to take home MVP honors.
- Abraham averaged 2.80 kills while hitting .450 and had a team best 12 blocks in the Yale Invitational.
- Barr averaged 2.00 kills and hit .379 in the three matches this weekend.
