Miller's Game-Winner Pushes Bulldogs Past Sacred Heart

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Defender Andie Miller scored the game-winner in the 62nd minute as the Yale women's soccer team defeated Sacred Heart, 2-1, at Reese Stadium. The Bulldogs improved to 5-3 overall, while the Pioneers fell to 0-7-1.

"I think we were very good in the second half and created so many quality chances. The next level is finishing more of those and sealing a game, but we are happy to wrap up non-conference with a win and a little momentum," said Sarah Martinez, Loring Family Head Coach. "It was great to get some players back in the lineup and some quality minutes across the board. Now we have a little break before starting our preparation for Dartmouth next weekend.

Game Summary
  • 45' | After being dragged down in the box, Ellie Rappole converted on a penalty kick with 32 seconds left in the half to give Yale the lead after the first 45.
  • 58' | Sacred Heart found the equalize 13 minutes into the second half.
  • 62' | Alanna Butcher's service to the front of goal found the head of Andie Miller, who redirected the shot to the left side of goal.
