Nominations Open for George H.W. Bush '48 Lifetime of Leadership Award

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale Athletics is now accepting nominations for the 2025 George H.W. Bush '48 Lifetime of Leadership Award. Recipients will be honored at this year's event, which will be held on November 21, 2025, at the Yale Schwartzman Center.

The Lifetime of Leadership Award is named in recognition of George Herbert Walker Bush '48, the 41st President of the United States of America and former captain of the Yale Baseball team.

Yale Athletics has bestowed this honor to 64 individuals dating back to 2001 with their inaugural class. Past award winners include James Rockefeller '24, Lisa Brummel '81, Joseph Tsai '86 B.A., '90 J.D., Carol Roberts '81, and John F. Kerry '66 B.A., '17 L.L.D.H. 

Nominees must meet the following criteria to be eligible:
  • Made significant leadership contributions in the global fields of governance, commerce, science and technology, medicine, education, public service, and the arts and media after Yale;
  • A former Yale student-athlete; and
  • Graduated more than 20 years prior to their nomination.
