NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior Joseph Farouz scored on a miraculous diving header in the 58th minute to lead the Yale men's soccer team to a 1–0 victory over Ivy League foe Columbia on Saturday evening at Reese Stadium.
With the win, Yale earned its first victory of the season, improving to 1–6–2 overall. The Bulldogs also picked up three points in the Ivy League standings, moving to 1–1 in conference play. Columbia dropped to 1–4–3 overall with an 0–1–1 mark in Ivy play.
"I am so happy for the boys tonight," said Kylie Stannard, the 5K Corral Head Coach of the Bulldogs. "This was a really strong 90-minute performance and a very well deserved result tonight. I am really proud of the fight we showed and to create the attacking opportunities we did while also earning a shutout shows a total team performance."
