Bulldogs Fall at St. John’s

NEW YORK – The Yale women's basketball team fell to St. John's 88-60 Friday afternoon at Carnesecca Arena. After falling behind 7-0, the Bulldogs went on a 10-1 run midway through the first quarter to get within two at 16-14. But St. John's ended that quarter with a 10-0 run, and then tacked on nine straight points at the start of the second quarter to take command of the game. The Bulldogs got no closer than within 18 the rest of the way.
 
Yale falls to 0-3 (0-0 Ivy League) while St. John's improves to 3-1 (0-0 Big East).
 
STATISTICAL LEADERS
  • Sophomore guard Ke'iara Odume and junior forward Luisa Vydrova tied for the team lead in points with 12.
  • Senior forward Kiley Capstraw led Yale in rebounds (eight) and assists (seven, a career high). 
 
KEY STAT
  • St. John's had a 50-28 advantage in points in the paint.
