Bulldogs Down Columbia on Senior Night

Yale finishes Ivy League regular season with 10-4 mark

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Bulldogs held off Columbia and finished strong with a 3-1 victory on Saturday night.  The scores of the match were 22-25, 27-25, 25-13 and 25-19.

Match summary:
  • The Bulldogs closed out the regular season with a 14-8 overall mark and a 10-4 record in Ivy play.
  • Ava Poinsett led the way with 14 kills, while Cam Bolane and Laurece Abraham each had 12 to pace the Bulldogs.
  • Isabel Patterson and Naya Salfiti gave the Bulldogs a boost. Patterson had six kills, while Salfiti had five kills on five swings.
  • After dropping the first set, the Bulldogs were trailing 24-19 in the second and came back to take the set. They did it in a variety of points -- kills from Poinsett and Abraham, block assists from Bolane and Salfiti, and service aces from Arya Jue and Mila Mijailovic.
  • Yale hit .531 in the fourth to close out the match.
  • The Bulldogs held a 57-46 edge in digs led by Jue with 13.
  • Head coach Erin Appleman earned her 397th win at Yale.

  • The Bulldogs earned the No. 3 seed in the Ivy League Tournament and will face No. 2 seed Cornell in the semifinals.
