NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's and women's fencing teams are set to kick off the 2025-26 campaign on Sunday, November 9 at Vassar. The opening meet will be the first of six team events during the season.
Looking Back
Last season, the men's team finished with an 18-7 record, placing fifth at the Ivy League Championship. Jordan Silberzweig and Castor Kao earned All-Ivy League status for the Bulldogs. The Elis concluded the season with an 11th-place finish at the NCAA Championships. Silberzweig, Kao, and Tony Whelan all qualified for the championship event. Silberzweig was the Bulldogs' top performer, earning All-America Honorable Mention accolades for his 10th-place finish in sabre.
The women's squad registered a 23-8-1 record during the 2024-25 season. The Bulldogs tied for sixth at the Ivy League Championships and finished 11th in the combined results at the NCAA Championships. Audrey Lin, Anya Mehrotra, and Michelle Lee all qualified for nationals.
Moving Forward
Both squads will return their NCAA qualifiers, as well as the majority of their top competitors. Silberzweig and Amanda O'Donnell will serve as the men's and women's team captains, respectively.
New Faces
The Bulldogs welcome six newcomers on the men's side: Matthew Fields, David Frumgarzts, Yonjae Kim, Aydan Lee, Ben O'Donnell, and Ian Park. Jia Chen, Irene Jung, Sophie Liu, and Helen Wu will join the women's team.
