Bulldogs Fall to Northeastern in Season Opener

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's basketball team fell to Northeastern 75-64 in the 2025-26 season opener Friday night at Lee Amphitheater. The Bulldogs trailed by as many as 15 in the second quarter but rallied to take the lead in the third before a 16-0 run by the Huskies at the end of that quarter turned the game back in NU's favor. 
 
STATISTICAL LEADERS
  • Sophomore guard Ciniya Moore led Yale with 20 points, one shy of her career high. 
  • Junior forward Luisa Vydrova led Yale in rebounds with nine.
  • Sophomore guard Marisa Chapman led Yale with four assists.
  • Senior forward Kiley Capstraw led the Bulldogs with four steals.
 
KEY STAT
  • Northeastern had an 18-4 advantage in fast break points.
 
NOTES
  • A pair of players made their Yale debuts Friday: Vydrova, a transfer from UTEP, and first-year guard Olivia Kim
  • Vydrova (14 points, nine rebounds) finished one rebound shy of a double-double.
  • Capstraw added 19 points.
  • The Bulldogs shot .909 from the free throw line, making 10 of 11 attempts. Moore was a team-best 4-for-4.
