VILLANOVA, Pa. – Eight Bulldogs tallied goals, but the No. 9 Yale men's lacrosse team was edged by Villanova, 13-11, in its season opener on Saturday afternoon.
Turning Point
After Villanova extended its advantage to 8-4 with 14:24 remaining in the third quarter, the Bulldogs responded with goals from
David Anderson,
Peter Moynihan, and
Leo Johnson to trim the deficit to one. The Wildcats, however, responded with two of their own to take a 10-7 advantage into the fourth. Yale fought back with three straight in the final frame, highlighted by a goal from
Chris Lyons with 1:12 to go (12-11), but Villanova converted on an extra-man opportunity with seven seconds to go to put the game out of reach.

- Moynihan's two goals in the game tie a career high. The sophomore had two goals last season at Denver (3/10/24).
