NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The 2024 Yale volleyball season added another Ivy League title to the program's storied history—its third in a row and head coach Erin Appleman's 13th overall. The Bulldogs also secured their third consecutive Ivy League Tournament Championship, earning a trip to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year.
Looking ahead, Appleman has announced the addition of four standout first-years who will join the squad this fall: Yuri Park, Ava Poinsett, Naya Salfiti, and Gabby Stasys.
"I'm so excited to welcome this extraordinary class to Yale University," Appleman said. "They're great people, amazingly talented, and capable of playing every position. Not only will they compete for starting roles right away, but they will also make our program better every day."
Meet the Incoming Class:
Yuri Park | San Diego, Calif.
- Park, a 5'3" libero from San Diego, is a product of Coast Volleyball and Rancho Bernardo High School. As a senior, she was named First Team All-Avocado League West and Second Team All-CIF while earning team MVP honors.
- A three-time All-League selection and captain at Rancho Bernardo, Park was also a finalist for Athlete of the Year. She was named a PrepVolleyball All-American in 2023, recognized as a Top 60 recruit and Top 10 player from California by PrepDig, and selected for the AVCA Phenom Team in 2022 and 2023. Park has consistently played on her club's top team, competing in the Open Division at Junior Nationals.
Ava Poinsett | San Diego, Calif.
- Poinsett, a 6'0" outside hitter from San Diego, comes from Coast Volleyball and Francis Parker School. She was named CIF Coastal League Player of the Year and First Team All-League as a senior, capping a decorated high school career that included team MVP honors from 2021 to 2023.
- Poinsett helped lead Francis Parker to two CIF Division 2 runner-up finishes in 2021 and 2022 before capturing the Division 1 championship in 2023. A four-year captain and six-rotation starter at Coast, she was a 2023 PrepVolleyball 16U All-American and a PrepVolleyball Top 30-ranked player in 2024. She has also earned multiple All-Tournament selections at major national qualifiers.
Naya Salfiti | Westlake, Texas
- Salfiti, a 6'2" right side hitter from Westlake, Texas, plays for Dallas Skyline Volleyball Club and Liberty Christian High School. A two-time state champion, she was named First Team All-State in 2022 and 2023, Second Team All-State in 2024, and First Team All-District from 2021 to 2024.
- She was also named to the All-Tournament Team and earned Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2022. As a senior, she was team MVP and named 6A Setter of the Year.
- After starting her club career with Mad Frog, Salfiti joined Dallas Skyline for her junior and senior seasons, competing in the Open Division of Junior Nationals. Her teams finished fifth in 2023 and third in 2024.
Gabby Stasys | Naperville, Ill.
- Stasys, a 6'1" middle blocker from Naperville, Ill., comes from 1st Alliance Volleyball Club and Benet Academy. As a key starter, she helped Marist reach back-to-back Illinois 4A State runner-up finishes in 2023 and 2024.
- Competing for 1st Alliance, Stasys earned recognition as a Fab 5 Middle Blocker at the Triple Crown Tournament and was named All-Tournament at the Windy City Qualifier. Her teams have consistently excelled at the national level, finishing second in 16 Open at the 2023 Junior National Championships and third in 2024. Most recently, her team captured the Windy City Qualifier championship, securing a spot in the 2025 18 Open Junior Nationals.
