PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Yale softball team split a pair of games with Providence College, winning the first 8-4 before falling 7-3 in the second. The Bulldogs moved to 7-10 overall, while the Friars are now 5-13.
Game 1: Yale 8, Providence 4
- B1 | The Friars took an early lead with a two-run home run down the right-field line.
- T2 | Yale responded in the top of the second. After Isabella Fortini doubled to the fence, Elena Ohe followed with a single to put runners on the corners. Ohe's attempt to steal second drew a throw, allowing Fortini to swipe home safely.
- B3 | Providence extended its lead in the third with a pair of sacrifice hits.
- T4 | The Bulldogs cut into the deficit in the fourth. With runners on first and second, Fortini delivered an RBI single. Two batters later, with the bases loaded, Maddie Latta lined a single to left field to bring Yale within one.
- T5 | The Bulldogs' bats stayed hot in the fifth. Ella Gandolfo led off with a single to left, and fellow first-year Ella Cross followed with an RBI double to tie the game. That set the stage for Sophie Woodridge, who blasted a two-run home run to put Yale ahead.
- T7 | Back-to-back singles in the seventh added insurance runs, sealing the Bulldogs' victory.
Notes
- Sienna Reynolds earned the win in relief, pitching three innings and allowing just one hit.
- Isabella Fortini went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, an RBI, and a stolen base.
- Ella Cross finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Game 2: Providence 7, Yale 3
- T1 | Lauren Perren put Yale on the board early with a solo home run.
- B1 | Providence responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning.
- B3 | The Friars extended their lead to 3-1 with an RBI single to left field.
- T6 | Woodridge struck again, launching her second home run of the afternoon to tie the game.
- B6 | Providence answered with a four-run outburst in the bottom of the inning to secure the win.
