NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's ice hockey team will travel to Ithaca, N.Y., to play Cornell in a decisive ECAC Tournament Opening Round game this Saturday, March 8, at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
Scouting Yale
- Yale concluded the regular season with an overall record of 6-20-3 and a 5-14-3 record in conference play.
- First year Ronan O'Donnell leads the team in both goals and points, with 11 and 20, respectively.
- Captain William Dineen leads the team in assists with 12.
- Goaltender Jack Stark recorded 495 saves across 19 starts this season.
- Dylan Herzog led the Bulldogs in blocked shots this season, with 58.
Scouting Cornell
- Cornell finished the regular season with an overall record of 13-10-6 and a 10-8-4 record in conference play.
- Dalton Bancroft leads the Big Red in goals with 14 this season.
- Goaltender Ian Shane's two shutouts are tied for the conference lead.
- This marks the 10th consecutive season that Cornell has hosted an ECAC Tournament round, excluding the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A Look at History
- The Bulldogs posted a 0-1-1 record against the Big Red during the regular season. The teams played to a 2-2 draw in Ithaca on Nov. 8, with Yale winning the shootout, followed by a 5-3 loss at Ingalls Rink on Feb. 15.
- This is the first meeting between Yale and Cornell in the ECAC Tournament since the 2010-11 season, when the Bulldogs defeated the Big Red 6-0 in the ECAC Championship at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Yale also defeated Cornell in the 2009 ECAC Championship.
