Additionally, he was the recipient of the Jecko IM Team Award and earned Scholar All-American honors for the 2022–23 season.
"I am extremely excited and honored to be elected captain for the upcoming year," Hazlett said. "It is an incredible feeling to be trusted by my teammates and coaches to help lead the program. Over the past few years, our team has made incredible progress, and I'm excited to carry on the legacy of the leaders who came before me. This past season was especially meaningful and exciting for the team's future, as we achieved a top-20 finish at NCAAs and our best dual meet record in years. The captains and leaders who helped build this success are some of my closest friends and taught me invaluable lessons on what it means to be a compassionate and supportive teammate. I look forward to carrying our momentum with Jessey Li and continuing the cohesive bond that makes our program so special."
