Day One of Penn Relays Complete

Brian Gamble (shown here) took second in his 1500m heat.
PHILADELPHIA — The historic Penn Relays meet kicked off Thursday with multiple members of the Yale men's track and field team in action. The excellent conditions and tough competition led the Bulldogs to strong individual performances.

The Meet:
  • Day One results can be found here.
  • Yale's day began with the hammer throw. Juniors Nolan Recker and Jake Sun both had excellent days and continued to build momentum with the Ivy League Championships on the horizon. Recker threw just outside a PR with his mark of 59.33 meters. Sun's second-round mark of 56.41 meters was his best of the day.
  • On the track, sophomore Brian Gamble ran the 1500 meters. He progressed well through the field to place second in his heat with his time of 3:46.42.
  • Sophomore Daegan Cutter stepped down in distance to the 5,000 meters. Cutter made a strong move with 800 meters to go, and that was good enough for him to place second in 14:22.99.
Up Next:
  • The Bulldogs will compete closer to home Friday and Sunday at the Ken O'Brien Pre-Conference Meet hosted by UMass. Plenty of Bulldogs will be in action here in the last meet of the regular season. The Bulldogs' events at the Penn Relays continue Friday with the discus throw and Saturday with a 4x800 meter and 4xMile relay team competing for Yale.
