NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Mark Bolding, Susan Cavanagh Head Coach of Women's Hockey has announced that junior
Carina DiAntonio will serve as captain for the 2025-26 Bulldogs.
"We could not be more excited for Carina to take over as our new captain," Bolding said. "She has grown a lot since her arrival at Yale and is a big part of our team culture. She always gives us a spirited and committed effort on the ice and is a great teammate. Replacing
Anna Bargman is no easy task, as she was an exceptional leader, but we are confident Carina has what it takes to elevate our team for a great season in 2025-26."
DiAntonio wrapped up a fantastic junior season in which she led the team in points (34) and assists (21) and tied for the team-lead in goals (13). She had four game-winning scores, including an overtime goal against Princeton on Jan. 11. She was named an All-Ivy League Honorable mention selection and an NEWHA Division I All-Star. She is also a two-time ECAC Academic Team honoree.
Entering her senior year, DiAntonio ranks 18th on the Bulldogs' all-time assists list (45) and 20th in total points (82). DiAntonio has been an impact player for her entire tenure as a Bulldog. She appeared in all 33 games as a first year, tallying 16 goals and 13 assists as a key member of Yale's Ivy League and ECAC Hockey Championship team. In her sophomore campaign, DiAntonio scored 19 points, which ranked fourth on the team.
"It is an amazing honor to have been elected captain and given the opportunity to lead such an amazing group of players," DiAntonio said. "Over my years at Yale, I have gotten the chance to witness the impact of previous captains and the exceptional work they have done to transform the Yale women's hockey program."
The Bulldogs graduate 11 seniors, but will return a strong core with collegiate experience including DiAntonio and fellow seniors Gracie Gilkyson, Sylvia Bojarski, Avery Chesek, Jordan Ray, Ciara Coleman, Naomi Boucher, and Claire Sedgewick.
"It is a great privilege to be able to build on that foundation and to step into a leadership role alongside the upcoming senior class," DiAntonio said.
