NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Six members of the Yale field hockey team were named to the NFHCA Watchlist, announced on Thursday. Yale's selections were:
Beales (first team), Collee (second team), Picciafuoco (first team), Ramsey (honorable mention) and Whittington (first team) were All-Ivy League honorees last season. Beales (first team), Collee (second team), Picciafuoco (first team) and Whittington (first team) went on to earn NFHCA All-Mideast Region recognition. Picciafuoco was named second team NFHCA All-America.
The NFHCA Watchlist, which included 195 student-athletes from 64 Division I institutions this year, is intended to showcase those field hockey student-athletes with the strongest potential for consideration for the current year's NFHCA All-Region and All-America teams. Yale tied No. 6 Harvard and No. 10 Princeton for the most selections among Ivy League schools.
To be nominated, student-athletes must have been recognized for their outstanding field hockey abilities within the past two years (NFHCA All-Region, NFHCA All-America, all-conference, Senior Nexus Championship selection, NCAA All-Tournament Team and/or U.S. National or International Team roster) and the student-athlete's head coach must be an active NFHCA member.
Yale opens the season Friday, Sept. 5, hosting Long Island University at 5:00 p.m. at Johnson Field.
