Levy Nominated for 2025 NCAA Woman of the Year Award

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Mia Levy of Yale women's crew continues to add to her standout career, as she was named one of two Ivy League student-athletes nominated for the prestigious NCAA Woman of the Year award. Founded in 1991, the NCAA Woman of the Year award recognizes and celebrates graduates who excel in academics, athletics, community service, and leadership efforts across all three NCAA divisions.

Levy joins Harvard's Lauren Scruggs (fencing) as the two nominees from the Ivy League.

One of the most decorated student-athletes in program history, Levy had a stellar year on the water and in the classroom during the 2024-25 season. The senior was named the CRCA Division I Athlete of the Year and competed in the first varsity boat that made history by winning Yale's first national title since 2010 at the NCAA Championship. Throughout the spring season, that boat also picked up victories over Michigan, Rutgers, Syracuse, Cornell, Dartmouth, Princeton, and Radcliffe.

The senior earned All-America honors for the third straight year and was named to the First Team All-Ivy League for the second consecutive season. She also received the Nellie Pratt Elliott Award, given to the senior woman whose excellence in the field of athletics and her life at Yale best represent the ideals of sportsmanship and Yale tradition.

Additionally, Levy has been exceptional on the international stage, as she was named the 2023 USRowing U23 National Team Female Athlete of the Year after helping Team USA's eight win gold at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships. She also won gold with the U.S. women's eight at the 2021 World Rowing Junior Championships, rowing in the five seat.

Later this year, the national Top 30 honorees and nine finalists will be announced. The 2025 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced this fall and celebrated during the NCAA Convention.

About the NCAA Woman of the Year Award
The NCAA Woman of the Year program was established in 1991 and honors the academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service and leadership of graduating female college athletes from all three divisions. To be eligible, a nominee must have competed and earned a varsity letter in an NCAA-sponsored sport and must have earned her undergraduate degree by summer 2025.

Eligible female student-athletes are nominated by their member schools. Each conference office then reviews the nominations from its core member schools (and sponsored sports) and submits its conference nominee(s) to the NCAA. All nominees who compete in a sport that is not sponsored by their school's primary conference, as well as associate conference nominees and independent nominees, will be sent to a separate pool to be considered by a committee. The NCAA Woman of the Year selection committee identifies the Top 30 – 10 from each division and then selects the NCAA Woman of the Year, who is honored during an awards presentation at the NCAA Convention.
