IRVINE, Calif. – The Yale men's soccer team dropped a non-conference matchup to No. 22 UC Irvine on the road on Friday evening. The Anteaters took down the Bulldogs 1-0 in a hard-fought game that could have gone either way. Gustavo Gonzalez scored the game-winner in the 14
th minute.
With the victory, UC Irvine remained undefeated and improved to 5-0-1. Yale dropped to 0-3-1 overall.
"I am happy with the overall performance, but felt we deserved more from the result," said
Kylie Stannard, the 5K Corral Head Coach of the Bulldogs. "We gained momentum throughout the game and dominated large portions of the second half and were very unfortunate not to find a goal. We created enough chances to find goals, including hitting the crossbar, the post, forcing some key blocks from UCI, and should have had a penalty."
