NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's hockey team fell to No. 13 UConn, 5-2, in its opening game of the 2026 Connecticut Ice Tournament on Friday. Yale dropped to 7-12-0 on the season, while the Huskies improved to 14-7-3.
Period 1: UConn 2, Yale 1
- 1:10 (UC) – UConn opened the scoring just over a minute into the game with a redirect in front of the net.
- 1:34 (UC) – Just 24 seconds later, the Huskies doubled their lead when a point shot was finished off a rebound.
- 15:06 (YAL) – Yale cut the deficit to one as Zachary Wagnon dished a pass from behind the net to Micah Berger, who blasted a one-timer past the goaltender.
Period 2: UConn 4, Yale 2
- 2:38 (YAL) – Yale tied the game early in the second period when David Andreychuk found David Chen in the slot for the finish.
- 5:14 (UC) – UConn regained the lead on the power play.
- 12:15 (UC) – The Huskies added a second unanswered power-play goal to extend the margin.
Period 3: UConn 5, Yale 2
