NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Sophomore Heng Wai Wong of the Yale women's squash team wrapped up a superb weekend at the Collegiate Squash Association (CSA) Individual National Championships, reaching the semifinals of the event.
Wong won four matches over the course of three days, including a five-game thriller over No. 2 seed Malak Khafagy. After defeating Thanusaa Uthrian of Trinity in the quarterfinals, Wong fell in the semifinals against No. 3 seed Caroline Fouts of Harvard. As a first year, Wong competed at the event, reaching the quarterfinals. Over the course of her first two years, she has won a total of six matches against top competition in the nation.
Eight other Bulldogs also competed at the event over the weekend. On the men's side, Lachlan Sutton won two matches before falling in the round of 16. Tad Carney, Rohan Arya Gondi, and Arav Bhagwati each won one match in the winners' bracket.
First year Elise Kang won her opening match in her first national tournament event. Teammates Spring Ma, Eedha Mehta, and Meha Shah also competed on the women's side.
Both the Yale men's and women's teams will be back in action against Dartmouth on Jan. 30 at home.
