Matt Siley Joins Yale Staff as Assistant Coach

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Matt Siley, who coached the jumpers at Rider to 20 individual conference titles in his five seasons with the Broncs, has joined the Yale track and field staff as an assistant coach. He will work primarily with Yale's jumpers. Courtney Jaworski, Yale's Mark T. Young '68 Director of Cross Country and Track and Field, announced the hiring Thursday.

"I'm excited to welcome Matt Siley to Yale," said Jaworski. "His values, work ethic, and drive align perfectly with our program's culture. Matt has a proven record of recruiting and developing student-athletes to conference titles and NCAA competition. He will undoubtedly contribute to the continued growth and success of this program under the leadership of Head Coach of Track and Field Jeff Forino."

In addition to those 20 individual conference titles, Siley coached the jumpers at Rider to five NCAA East First Round qualifications, four school records, a MAAC Championship record and 47 top 10 school marks. He also coached long jumper Raisa Palleija to notable achievements at the national and international level, including two silver medals at the Dominican Republic Olympic Trials/Senior National Championships and a finals appearance at the 2023 U23 NACAC Championships.

Siley earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing and international business from Rider in 2021, then earned an MBA from Rider in 2023. He was the 2020-21 Rider men's track and field captain. That year he earned the team's Irwin Weiss Award and the team's Scholar Athlete Award. A three-time MAAC All-Academic Team honoree, he was a conference scorer in the long jump, triple jump and javelin.

A native of Erwinna, Pa., Siley joins a Yale coaching staff that – along with Jaworski and Forino – also includes Kyle Basista, Laura Broderick and Max Frye.
