QU, BU at Reese this Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 14 Yale women's lacrosse team hosts a pair of games at Reese Stadium this week, taking on local rival Quinnipiac Tuesday (2:30 p.m., ESPN+, International Stream, Live Stats) and BU Saturday (3:30 p.m., ESPN+, International Stream, Live Stats).
 
The Bulldogs
  • Yale opened the season with a decisive 14-4 win at UMass Lowell Saturday.
    • First-year midfielder Kate Gould (Nyack, N.Y.), sophomore attacker Kelly Holmes (Darien, Conn.) and junior attacker Ashley Kiernan (Chatham, N.J.) tied for the game high with three goals each.
    • Gould had a game-high six draw controls.
    • Junior defender Katie Clare (Bayport, N.Y.) and senior defender Emmy Pascal (Lorton, Va.) tied for the game high with three caused turnovers each.
  • Saturday's game vs. BU is part of a doubleheader, with the Yale men's lacrosse team hosting BU at noon.
  • Yale is ranked in three national polls:
    • #14 in the ILWomen poll
    • #15 in the IWLCA poll
    • #16 in the USA Lacrosse poll
  • Senior defender Emmy Pascal (Lorton, Va.), Yale's captain, has received multiple honors already:

The Series vs. QU
  • Yale beat Quinnipiac 16-6 last season in Hamden, improving to 11-0 all-time vs. the Bobcats. 
  • Other than a one-goal win in 2022 (13-12), all of Yale's wins vs. Quinnipiac have been by five or more goals.
 
The Bobcats
  • Quinnipiac (0-1, 0-0 MAAC) fell at home to Hofstra, 12-7, in the season opener this past Saturday.
  • The Bobcats are coming off a 2025 season in which they went 10-8 (4-4 MAAC). 
  • MAAC 2025 Rookie and Goalkeeper of the Year Shannon Alden and attacker Mia Delmond, the team's leading returning scorer, were both voted to the MAAC Preseason All-Conference team.
  • Quinnipiac was picked sixth in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
 
The Series vs. BU
  • Yale and BU have not played since 2015, when Yale snapped a four-game losing skid in the series by beating the Terriers 14-6 at Reese Stadium.
 
The Terriers
  • BU (2-1, 0-0 Patriot), which hosts Marist Tuesday, racked up 37 goals in winning its first two games (16-7 vs. New Hampshire, 21-14 at Stonehill). The Terriers then fell 9-5 at Fairfield this past Saturday.
  • Midfielder Tessa Geddes was named to the Preseason All-Patriot League Team. She had 25 goals and 34 points last year.
  • BU was picked sixth in the Patriot League Preseason Coaches' Poll.
