NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale softball team picked up a midweek victory over Fairfield, 4-3, at 5K Corral Field. The Bulldogs improved to 5-10 overall, while the Stags fell to 4-13.
Scoring Summary
- T1 – After a leadoff walk gave Fairfield its first baserunner, a sacrifice bunt moved the runner to second. A subsequent play allowed the Stags to push across the opening run. (FFD 1, YAL 0)
- B1 – The Bulldogs picked up back-to-back hits to start the inning as Ella Gandolfo and Elena Ohe reached on a pair of singles. Batting in the three-spot, first-year Ava Kainrath lined a double down the left-field line and advanced to third on the throw, scoring both runners to give Yale the lead. Jane Littleton then drew a two-out walk to put runners on the corners. After Littleton initiated a steal, Kainrath snuck home to extend the lead to two. (YAL 3, FFD 1)
- B2 – Yale added a fourth run in the following inning as Isabella Fortini scored on a sacrifice fly after reaching earlier on a fielder's choice. (YAL 4, FFD 1)
- T4 – A leadoff double to center field put Fairfield on base in the fourth. With runners on the corners later in the inning, the Stags scored on a fielder's choice to cut Yale's lead in half. (YAL 4, FFD 2)
- T5 – Fairfield threatened again in the fifth. With two outs and two on, the Stags singled to left field to pull within one. (YAL 4, FFD 3)
- T7 – Emma Taylor tossed a strong final inning to secure the win, retiring two of the three batters she faced via strikeout.

- Ella Gandolfo went 2-for-2 with one run scored and a stolen base.
- Ava Kainrath recorded her third double of the season and her second multi-RBI game of the year.
- Elena Ohe, Demi Donahoe, and Isabella Fortini also had hits for Yale.
- Sienna Reynolds picked up her first win in the circle, while Emma Taylor recorded her first career save.
- S.J. Mull '25, a former captain of the Bulldogs, returned to New Haven as a member of the Fairfield squad during her postgraduate year.
