No. 6 Yale Hosts UConn Saturday

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 6 Yale women's lacrosse team hosts UConn Saturday (3:30 p.m., ESPN+, International Stream, Live Stats). The game is part of a doubleheader at Reese Stadium that starts with the Yale men's lacrosse team hosting Princeton at 12:00 p.m.
 
The Bulldogs
  • Last time out, Yale topped Columbia 16-6. That marked the third time in the season's first six games that the Bulldogs won by 10 or more goals.
  • The first-year and sophomore classes have accounted for 62 of Yale's 95 goals this season (65 percent).
  • Yale has not trailed since the 3:33 mark of the second game of the season. The Bulldogs had fallen behind to Quinnipiac 3-2 at the 4:55 mark of that game. They tied the game 82 seconds later, took the lead 45 seconds after that and went on to a 15-9 win.
  • Yale has allowed a total of just eight goals in the first quarters of games this season.
  • Yale is ranked No. 1 in the nation in scoring defense (5.67 goals allowed per game). This comes on the heels of a 2025 season in which Yale finished No. 4 nationally in scoring defense (8.80 goals allowed per game) and a 2024 season in which Yale finished No. 3 nationally in scoring defense (8.35 goals allowed per game).
  • Yale is one of six undefeated teams left in the nation:
    • No. 18 Penn State 8-0
    • No. 2 Stanford 8-0
    • No. 3 Maryland 7-0
    • No. 5 Navy 7-0
    • No. 1 North Carolina 7-0
    • No. 6 Yale 6-0
  • Senior defender Emmy Pascal (Lorton, Va.), Yale's captain, is on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. She was a third team preseason All-America selection by both ILWomen and USA Lacrosse. Pascal is averaging 2.33 caused turnovers per game (best in the Ivy League and 18th nationally) and 2.00 ground balls per game (tied for ninth in the Ivy League). Pascal interned at Madison Square Garden in Strategies and Business Operations last summer. Her brother Luke is a sophomore midfielder on the Yale men's lacrosse team.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Niamh Pfaff (Garden City, N.Y.) is No. 1 nationally in goals-against average (6.02) and No. 8 nationally in save percentage (.523).
  • Sophomore attacker Kelly Holmes (Darien, Conn.) is tied for fourth in the Ivy League in goals (19). With 19 goals and six assists, she has already more than tripled her point total from last season (one goal, six assists in 13 games).
  • First-year midfielder Kate Gould (Nyack, N.Y.) is second in the Ivy League in draw controls per game (6.83).
  • Eight Bulldogs have started all six games:

The Series vs. UConn
  • Yale has won two in a row in the series vs. UConn, including a 17-8 win last season and a 17-6 win in 2024.
  • UConn is the third Connecticut school Yale plays this year. The Bulldogs have already beaten Quinnipiac (15-9) and Central Connecticut State (22-4).
 
The Huskies
  • UConn (3-3, 0-0 Big East) has won two in a row since starting the season 1-3. 
  • Five of the Huskies' six games have been decided by four or fewer goals.Two have gone to overtime.
