NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 6 Yale women's lacrosse team remains unbeaten, topping UConn 17-5 on Saturday at Reese Stadium. First-year midfielder
Kate Gould had six goals and an assist to lead the offense, and the Yale defense held UConn scoreless for more than 20 minutes midway through the game as part of a dominant display.
Yale led just 2-1 after the first quarter, but began pulling away by outscoring UConn 5-2 in the second. The lead was 10-3 heading into the fourth quarter, and after the teams traded goals in the first 2:34 of the final frame the Bulldogs outscored UConn 6-1 the rest of the way.
Yale improves to 7-0 (1-0 Ivy League) on the season while UConn falls to 3-4 (0-0 Big East).

- First-year midfielder Kate Gould had a game-high six goals and seven points.
- Three Bulldogs had a game-high two assists each.

TURNING POINT
- UConn was within 7-3 after scoring a goal at 4:28 of the second, but the Bulldogs did not allow the Huskies to score again until there was 12:26 left in the fourth. That was 22:02 of shutout lacrosse from the Yale defense. By the time the Huskies scored, Yale had built an 11-3 lead.
KEY STAT
- Yale allowed only 10 shots on goal, a season-low for UConn.
NOTES
- This is the second year in a row that Yale has started 7-0. The Bulldogs' most wins in a row to start a season is nine (1995 and 2024).
- This is the fifth time in seven games that Yale has won by 10 or more goals.
- Gould's six goals are one shy of the season high in goals for a Yale player, established by sophomore attacker Kelly Holmes (seven goals vs. BU Feb. 21).
- In addition to Gould, three other Bulldogs had multiple-goals games (two each): Newman, first-year midfielder Meg Bohan and first-year midfielder Whitney Froeb.
- Newman (2-2-4) was one shy of her career high in points.
- Bellissimo and Newman's five ground balls tied for the most in a game by a Yale player this season (junior defender Katie Clare had five vs. Quinnipiac Feb. 17).
- Yale's 25 ground balls as a team were the most the Bulldogs have had in a game since they had 28 against Rutgers Mar. 1, 2025.
