Men’s Basketball Set to Host Princeton for Senior Day

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After clinching its second consecutive Ivy League title on Saturday, the Yale men's basketball team looks to close out the regular season on a high note, hosting Princeton for Senior Day on Saturday, Mar. 7.
 
Prior to the game, the Bulldogs will honor seniors Jackson Thiel, Devon Arlington, Casey Simmons, and Nick Townsend for their contributions to the program.

Last Time Out
  • Townsend tallied a team-high 18 points, and the Yale men's basketball team shot 55% from the field to defeat Columbia, 60–54, on Saturday evening at Levien Gymnasium.
  • With the win, coupled with Penn's victory over Harvard, Yale secured at least a share of the Ivy League title for the second consecutive season.
  • After Columbia cut Yale's lead to three, 36–33, with 13:45 remaining in the second half, the Bulldogs responded with a decisive six-point run, highlighted by four points from Townsend, to push the margin to 42–33.

  • Townsend is seventh in the league in scoring (16.5 ppg), second in rebounding (7.5 rpg), first in three-point field goal percentage (48.8), and second in assists (4.2 apg).

Scouting Princeton
  • The Tigers enter the weekend with an overall record of 9-19, and are 5-8 in league play.
  • Princeton is coming off an 82-61 victory over Dartmouth on Saturday.
  • In the victory, the Tigers shot a season-high 61.6% from three and had four double figure scorers.
  • Jackson Hicke tied the game-high in scoring and led the team with 22 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the field, 3-for-5 from three, and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Hicke also recorded seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals, which tied the team high.
  • Dalen Davis also had a big performance for the Tigers, adding 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field, 2-of-3 from three and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line.
  • The Bulldogs and Tigers last met on Jan. 10 in Jadwin Gymnasium, with Princeton winning by a score of 76-60.
  • Princeton leads the all-time series, 154-102.
