NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale softball team split a pair of games Sunday afternoon, concluding its home-opening weekend with a 13-3 win over New Haven and an 8-1 defeat to the Boston University Terriers.
After a four-game weekend, the Bulldogs sit at a record of 4-10 as conference play approaches. Yale currently leads the conference in stolen bases (14), triples (4) and hit batters (8).
Game 1: Boston University 8, Yale 1
- T3 - The Terriers plated four runs in the inning behind an RBI single from Camryn Lyons and an RBI double from Kyomi Apalit. (BU 4, Yale 0)
- B3 - Yale responded with a run of its own after a hard-hit ball from Ava Kainrath was mishandled by a BU infielder, allowing Demi Donahoe to score an unearned run. (BU 4, Yale 1)
- T5 - BU added to its lead with a sacrifice fly from Sophie Naivar. (BU 5, Yale 1)
- T6 - Megan Coyle added another run for the Terriers with an RBI single. (BU 6, Yale 1)
- T7 - The visiting team put their finishing touches on the game with a couple more runs added late. (BU 8, Yale 1)

- B3 - The game's starting pitcher, Ellie Joseph, secured the first hit of her first year campaign, a two-run blast to right field. (Yale 8, New Haven 0)
