Cashion Shines as No. 17 Men’s Lacrosse Stuns No. 5 Harvard

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Cole Cashion had a career day with a five-point performance of five goals, and the No.17 Yale men's lacrosse team picked up one of its biggest wins of the season, knocking off No. 5 Harvard, 15-9, on Saturday afternoon at Reese Stadium, earning its third consecutive victory.

Yale set the tone early and never trailed after the opening minutes, building a 5-2 lead after the first quarter and a 10-5 advantage at halftime. The Bulldogs then opened the second half with two more goals in a span of 10 seconds to blow the game open and hand the Crimson their first Ivy League loss of the season.

With the victory, Yale improved to 6-4 overall (3-2 Ivy), and Harvard dropped to 9-2 overall (3-1 Ivy). The win also marked Yale's third victory over a ranked opponent this season and its second in the past three games, with both coming against top-10 teams.

  • Q1 | Harvard struck first at the 11:53 mark, but Yale answered less than a minute later on an unassisted goal from Pascal. The Bulldogs then took control with scores from Sheehan, Blekicki, and Cashion before Pascal added his second of the quarter with 38 seconds left. 5-2 YALE
  • Q2 | The Crimson twice trimmed the advantage to two early in the frame, but Yale had an answer each time. Up 6-4, the Bulldogs then tallied three consecutive goals, which came from Sheehan, Gately, and Cashion to extend the lead at the 3:16 mark.   • Q3 | Yale came out firing, as Moynihan scored at the 9:36 mark, and Wehmeyer followed just 10 seconds later to stretch the lead to 12-5. Harvard answered with three of the next four goals, but Cashion scored again with 5:25 remaining to keep the Bulldogs in front. 13-8 YALE
  • Q4 | Cashion opened the quarter with his fifth goal of the day, and Pascal completed his hat trick with a score with 6:30 to go to extend the advantage to seven (15-8). The Crimson scored one more on the man-up, but the Bulldogs remained in control the rest of the way. 15-9 YALE
