DERBY, Conn. – The Yale heavyweight crew team returned home to the Housatonic River on Saturday morning, competing against Ivy League foes Penn and Columbia for the Blackwell and Colgan Cups.
Results
The racing slate featured two-mile races for each school's top four varsity boats. The first varsity boats competed for the Blackwell Cup, while the second varsity battled it out for the Colgan Cup.
- The day started with the 4V boats racing alongside Penn's 5V offering. The Quakers took first, with Yale not far behind.
- Penn's 1V took the Blackwell Cup in an outstanding race, beating out Yale in a photo-finish ending.
- The Quaker 2V also took the Colgan Cup, with the Bulldogs finishing in second.
- Yale's 3V boat salvaged a victory for the Bulldogs on the day, beating Penn to the finish line in another very close race.
Looking Ahead
Yale will make its way back to the waters of Lake Carnegie in New Jersey for the second time in three weeks on April 25, competing against Princeton and Cornell for the Carnegie Cup.
