NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Behind extra-inning heroics from Elena Ohe, the Yale softball team defeated Princeton, 7-6, in 10 innings in game two. In game one, the Bulldogs fell 2-0.
With the results, Yale moved to 14-27 overall and 5-13 in the Ivy League, while Princeton moved to 26-11 overall and 12-1 in the conference.
Game 1: Princeton 2, Yale 0
- T1 – Back-to-back extra-base hits for the Tigers gave them an early two-run lead. (PRI 2, YAL 0)

Game 2: Yale 7, Princeton 6 (10 innings)
- T1 – Princeton struck first again in game two. With one out and two on, the Tigers plated their first run on an infield error. Two batters later, a single up the middle scored a pair. (PRI 3, YAL 0)
- B2 – Leading off the inning, Elena Ohe hit a first-pitch double over the left fielder's head. In the ensuing at-bat, Ellie Joseph ripped a single through the right side to score Ohe from second. Later in the inning, with the bases loaded, a hard infield bouncer was misplayed by the shortstop, allowing another run to score. Ella Cross battled through a seven-pitch at-bat to draw a walk and tie the game. (YAL 3, PRI 3)
- T4 – Princeton scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly. (PRI 4, YAL 3)
- T6 – The Tigers' offense added on in the sixth. A single and an error put a runner on second, and the third batter of the inning knocked an RBI triple down the right-field line. (PRI 5, YAL 3)
- B6 – Yale responded in the bottom half. Ella Gandolfo worked a nine-pitch at-bat to earn a walk. Isabella Fortini then belted an RBI double to left field and advanced to third on the throw. With one out, Jane Littleton laid down a sacrifice bunt to score Fortini and tie the game. (YAL 5, PRI 5)
- T9 – Princeton hit a solo home run to left field. (PRI 6, YAL 5)
- B9 – With the bases loaded and two outs, Gandolfo drew her second walk of the game to tie it for Yale. (YAL 6, PRI 6)
- B10 – Ella Cross led off the inning with a single up the middle to put the winning run on base. A sacrifice bunt moved her to second, and a Libby Peoples single to right field put runners on the corners. Elena Ohe then delivered a second-pitch single through the right side to score Cross and walk it off in extras. (YAL 7, PRI 6)
Notes
- Ellie Joseph tossed nine innings with six strikeouts, while Emma Taylor came on in relief to close out the victory.
- This marks Yale's first win over Princeton since 2019 and its first win at home against the Tigers since 2014.Â
- With the win, Yale snapped Princeton's 14-0 Ivy League record this season.
- Elena Ohe went 3-for-6 with two runs and one RBI.
- Ohe's walk-off was her second of the season. She previously delivered a two-RBI single against Hofstra in the bottom of the seventh on March 17 to lift Yale to a 5-4 win.
- Grace Westmoreland went 3-for-5 with a run.
- Ella Cross went 2-for-4 with two walks, one RBI, and a run.
- Isabella Fortini's double was the 28th of her career, moving her into sixth place all-time.

Yale will play its final home games of the season on Wednesday, April 22, with a doubleheader against the University of New Haven. First pitch for game one is set for 3 p.m. at 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium.
