NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale softball team defeated the University of New Haven, 9-6, in its home season finale at 5K Corral Field. With the win, Yale improves to 15-27 overall, while the Chargers fall to 9-31.
Scoring Summary
- B1 – In the leadoff spot, Ella Cross singled to shallow left field to give Yale its first baserunner of the game. Two batters later, Jane Littleton drove a shot to the left-center field fence, reaching second and scoring Cross. Later in the inning, with runners on the corners, Isabella Fortini and Libby Peoples executed a double steal to plate the Bulldogs' third run. (YAL 3, UNH 0)
- B2 – Yale added its fourth run in the second inning when Cross sent a ball down the right field line that the first baseman could not handle, allowing Kaitlyn Oikle—who reached on a leadoff single—to score. (YAL 4, UNH 0)
