NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale Athletics has announced the hiring of Dr. Chelsea Morales, Psy.D. as its Embedded Clinical Psychologist.
In her role, Morales will lead Yale Athletics' student-athlete mental health program, providing comprehensive care, including assessment, counseling, and coordinated treatment, while supporting the well-being of all 35 varsity teams through outreach, education, and connections to additional care resources. collaborates with healthcare providers within Yale Athletics Medicine Department and Yale Health.
Morales joins Yale after serving as the Multicultural Student-Athlete Mental Health Clinician at the University of Connecticut. In that role, she worked exclusively with student-athletes, providing psychotherapy, collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary care team, and leading mental health outreach initiatives.
She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Fairfield University before completing her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology's Washington, D.C. campus. Morales brings a diverse range of clinical experience, including work in inpatient settings, private practice, and school-based services.
Following her doctoral training, Morales completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Posttraumatic Stress Center in New Haven, where she specialized in trauma-focused psychotherapy and treatment for individuals who have experienced a wide range of traumatic events.
Her professional interests include addressing issues related to trauma-informed care, identity development, and reducing stigma through mental health education and outreach.
