Women’s Tennis to Face Texas Tech in NCAA First Round

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - After winning the Ivy League Championship and securing the league's automatic NCAA bid, the Yale women's tennis team will compete in the 2026 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship. The Bulldogs will take on Texas Tech in the first round in Austin, Texas, hosted by No. 9 Texas on Saturday, May 2, as announced during the selection show on Monday.

Yale (19–3, 6–1 Ivy League), currently ranked No. 35 in the ITA rankings, secured its place on the national stage following a dominant season that culminated in a share of the Ivy League Championship, its first since 2013, and the league's automatic NCAA bid. The Bulldogs' 19 wins marked their highest total since the 2011–12 season, while the team went undefeated at home and closed Ivy League play with a four-match winning streak to finish atop the standings.

The Bulldogs' historic season was reflected in the Ivy League postseason awards, where head coach Rachel Sapir-Kahan and her staff were named Coaching Staff of the Year, Leena Friedman earned Rookie of the Year honors, and Orly Ogilvy, Friedman, and Shyla Aggarwal collected All-Ivy recognition for their performances throughout the season.

The Lady Raiders enter the matchup with an 18-10 overall record, and 7-6 in Big 12 play. Texas Tech ranks No. 28 in the latest ITA rankings and is coming off a 4-0 loss to No. 23 TCU in the conference semifinals.

Yale now turns its attention to the national stage, aiming to carry its championship momentum into NCAA Tournament play.
